Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress, producer and director. Her work has been recognized for movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. She won several awards like an Oscar for the film Piano. The actress of distinction began her acting career on the stage with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. Being an actor has always been a passion. In the fifth grade she was Helen Keller. Her mumps made her blind and deaf in one ear. However, she did not allow this to hinder her ambitions of becoming an actor. While in college, she took classes in theatre after which she moved in New York City in pursuit of her goals. A chance meeting led her to was stuck in an elevator together with the playwright Beth Henley and the two joined forces to create the Broadway Crimes of the Heart and became Hunter's debut. Following her move to Los Angeles she tried to be a film actor and eventually landed a supporting role for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in a variety of TV shows and films in an extensive career that spans more than a quarter century. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
